Chiefs end Superbowl drought, Win first title in 50 years

One thing was for certain in the weekends Superbowl Sunday match up, It was much better than last years big game. The Kansas City Chiefs ended a 50 year drought to have them win there 2nd title in franchise history. The Chiefs ousted the San Francisco 49ers in a back and forth dog fight, with all the interceptions, big runs, fumbles, and other bells and whistles you could ask for.

We all could witnessing the start of a dynasty in Missouri. Three years into his already illustrious NFL career, Patrick Mahomes has brought the sweet prize of Lombardy back to Kansas city for the first time in 50 years. Mahomes threw for 286 yards 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions in his and head coach Andy Reid’s first Superbowl victory. Mahomes had some help along the way, The defense which consists of Frank Clark, Chirs Jones, and former Defensive Player of the Year terrell Suggs brought the pain towards the 49ers offensicve line. The secondary which holds the likes of all star saftey Tyrann Mathieu, Kendall Fuller, and Bashaud Breeland. came up big with 2 interceptions. Mahomes also recived helped from a running back, who many which doubted when he became the strter after the departure of kareem Hunt last season. Damien Williams racked up 107 yards on the ground, as well as 2 touchdowns. Throughout the playoffs, Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to rally back from double digit defieciats not once, not twice, but in all three of their playoff games this year. Makomes will most certainly look to solidify his reputation as a winner through and through, an MVP season the year before, and following that up with a Superbowl isn’t a bad way to start.

As for San Francisco, This will be the second time that they fail to capture Lombardi in the big game in 8 years. losing back in 2012-13 to the Baltimore Ravens, and now to the Chiefs in 2019-20. However this might not be the end of San Francisco, The team is well built with a lot of underrated talent, like the two headed back duo in Raheem Mostart and Tevin Coleman, Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, young talent like Deebo samuel, Old talent to help mentor the younger guys like Emmanuel Sanders, and superstars like tightened George Kittle. and that’s only on Offense. The Defense though failing to stop 21 unanswered points in the 4th on Sunday, is the bread and butter of the team. With the likes of DeForest Buckner, Fred Warner, and sensational rookie of the year Nick Bosa bringing pressure to a Quarterback near you. and the secondary with future Hall of Famer Richard Sherman. This team is very well built for the future and could be represent the NFC in the Superbowl many times for years to come.

And so with that we wrap up the NFL season of 2019-20, year 100 for the National football league. But still to come, is the Scouting Combine, Draft, and Free agency signings to come. With big market names like Philip Rivers, Amari Cooper, and the greatest of all time, Tom Brady hitting the market, it will be interesting to see who will end up where on the NFL map. so until next time…. – Cade Carlisle

Super Bowl 54 Matchup is Set!

The final four remaining teams have battled it out, and now only two remain and will play for Lombardi in Miami for Super Bowl 54! The Kansas City Chiefs put a screeching halt to the fairy tale ending of the Tennessee Titans with a  victory in Arrowhead last Sunday, They will represent the AFC in their biggest game of the year. In the NFC, it was a game of Boys vs. Men, The San Francisco 49ers steamrolled the Packers in the NFC championship game, for the opportunity to win their 6th record tying Super Bowl.

One word…Clinic. That is what can be said about the Chiefs masterful performance against the underdog Titans in the conference championship. Many had questioned the run defense of Chiefs this season, and it looked as though they would have their hands full with Titans running back Derrick Henry, who has strung together one of the greatest 3 game performances in the history of the NFL. With 588 total yards of offense, and 5 touchdowns including a passing TD against the number 1 seeded Baltimore Ravens, I looked as though only a freight train could stop henry coming into Sunday’s game. Unfortunately for the Titans, The Chiefs had a couple laying around, their names are Chris Jones, Terrell Suggs, and Frank Clark. The Chief’s front seven managed to hold henry to just 69 yards and a TD, taking out the biggest threat, and showering Titans QB Ryan Tannehill with pressure for what seemed like 60 minutes straight. On the other side of the ball, it was nothing short of amazing once again from Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, who ended the day with 294 yards, and 3 touch downs. Climbing his defense out of whole to start the second quarter once again, after 14 minutes, it was all Chiefs, with a 35-24 victory. The Chiefs now reach the Super Bowl for the 1st time since 1969, where they defeated the Minnesota Viking ins Super Bowl 4.

Moving things out west to Santa Clara in California, It was once again an Offensive and Defensive master piece from the 49ers of San Francisco, as they once again brought the pain to the Green Bay Packers, with a win of 37-20. San Fran jumped early, and they hit hard, by half the Packers were shut out and losing by 27. Raheem Mostart carried the load in this game, with 220 yards rushing, and 4 touchdowns. The Defense picked right up from their destruction of Minnesota the week previous, and harassed Aaron Rodgers all night. A lot of questions were answered after this game, especially questions as to how Green Bay would do, following their loss to San Francisco earlier in the season, back in November, where they lost 8-37. Jimmy Garropolo threw for two long bombs to the end zone, and has now shown to people what he is capable of in this league as a starter. With this win, San Fransico will be representing the NFC in the big game, for the second time in 10 years. in their last Super Bowl outing, The 49ers came up just shirt, against Joe Flaco’s and Ray Lewis’s Ravens back in 2013. They have a chance to win their 6th Super Bowl title, tying them all time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New England Patriots.
